| Prima lezing van Bart de Smit op de UT vandaag.
Ik heb hem nog geattenteerd op het feit, dat Escher als kristallograaf mogelijk gebruik heeft gemaakt van delen van het "Wulff net" of een andere stereografische projectiemethode bij het tekenen van deze afbeelding.
Graag hierover een reaktie.

What Escher made whithout any computer, it seems you needed one, but it's fabulous! The video clip_1_1 is really interesting : a rather good animation of the perception of the drawing.
A nice job concieling maths and art!
Note : this special effect is known as "Flodor's Chips" effect in France (effet des Chips Flodor) or more scientifically a "mise en abime de l'image"(in french!).

Samen met een jongen uit mijn klas ben ik bezig aan een profielwerkstuk over Escher. Via het krantenartikel dat over de onopgeloste tekening van Escher ging (Dagblad de Limburger) ben ik op deze site gekomen. Ik vind het zo interessant dat we nu een deelvraag van ons werkstuk aan de onopgeloste tekening (die nu opgelost is!) gaan besteden. We proberen het proces dat jullie gebruikt hebben te volgen en op onze eigen manier uit te leggen.

| Bart de Smit kindly answered our questioning with an excellent article from SIAM www.siam.org/siamnews/10-02/escher.pdf (probably well-known to mathematicians...)that not only clearly explains the way the project was initiated and conducted, filling a few holes in the present site, but above all, reinstalling the flawless reputation of the team versus the memory of Escher, something the press wasn't always producing.
