Description
This is an advanced course in algebraic number theory. The goal of the course is to give an introduction to class field theory, with an emphasis on local class field theory. One of the main algebraic tools we will use is the theory is group cohomology. This subject, which has applications in many areas of pure mathematics, will be the subject of a substantial part of the course. The core of the course will be chapters 1-3 of Milne's course notes.
