Some conferences and seminars I have (co-)organised.

• Arithmetic cycles, modular forms, and L-functions
  
  CRM Montréal, 18-22 August 2025
  
  Co-organiser of conference on recent advances in the theory of arithmetic cycles, modular forms, and L-functions. The conference is a celebration of the mathematics of Henri Darmon, on the occasion of his 60th birthday.



• Arithmetic, geometry, space, and time
  
  ICMS Edinburgh, 25-29 November 2024
  
  Co-organiser for a conference to celebrate the occasion of Minhyong Kim's 61st birthday, organised together with Netan Dogra, Dohyeong Kim, and Jaesung Kwon. The event is held at the ICMS in Edinburgh.



• Séminaire Mazur
  
  Leiden, 22-26 July 2024
  
  Paolo Bordignon and I are organising a learning seminar on modular curves and the Eisenstein ideal, with a special focus on the parts of the argument involving the structure of group schemes.



• Arithmetic theta series and p-adic modular forms
  
  Cetraro, 3-7 June 2024
  
  Co-organiser of conference in Cetraro (Calabria) dedicated to recent advances in the Kudla programme, with a focus on emerging relations between archimedean and non-archimedean arithmetic techniques.



• Arithmetic Statistics
  
  CIRM Luminy (Marseille), 15-19 May 2023
  
  Organising committee for conference on arithmetic statistics. The main organiser is Samuele Anni, and this conference is part of a special semester at CIRM in the Spring of 2023, when Peter Stevenhagen is the Jean-Morlet Chair.

  I am co-organising a workshop on density problems in arithmetic, CIRM special semester spring 2023.



• Singular moduli for real quadratic fields
  
  IAS / Princeton, Fall 2019
  
  Akshay Venkatesh, Chris Skinner, and I organised a learning seminar at IAS / Princeton University on the theory of rigid cocycles and singular moduli for real quadratic fields.



• The Gross-Zagier formula
  
  Oxford, Michaelmas 2018
  
  Netan Dogra and I organised a graduate learning seminar on the work of Gross and Zagier on heights of Heegner points and derivatives of L-series of modular Jacobians.



• Jacquet-Langlands and cyclic base change
  
  Oxford, Michaelmas 2014
  
  Minhyong Kim, Andrew Wiles, and I organised a seminar on base change for automorphic forms and the work of Jacquet and Langlands.



• Perverse sheaves and the decomposition theorem
  
  Oxford, Michaelmas 2014
  
  Balázs Szendrői and I organised a seminar on perverse sheaves and the decomposition theorem, following the paper of De Cataldo and Migliorini.



• Deformation week

  I co-organised (with Emily Cliff and Kristian Strømmen) a workshop for graduate students on various aspects of deformation theory, funded by the Mathematical Institute in Oxford. The schedule and list of participants can be found on the webpage.



• Rational points on curves: A p-adic and computational perspective
  
  Oxford, 24 - 29 September 2012
  
  I co-organised (with Henri Darmon, Minhyong Kim and Alan Lauder) a conference on rational points on curves, funded by the ERC. The conference website contains notes from all the talks. Click here for a picture of (most) participants.

  Naar aanleiding van Leiden: European City of Science 2022 kwam er een leuk initiatief van de Universiteitsbibliotheek Leiden (UBL) om een podcast te maken over hun Bijzondere Collecties. In een gesprek heb ik het met hen over wiskundige handschriften en hun nut in modern wiskundig onderzoek.

  Artikel over het recente werk van Dasgupta en Kakde omtrent het twaalfde probleem van Hilbert, en het belang van open problemen voor de ontwikkeling van de wiskunde. Verschenen in Nieuw Archief voor Wiskunde, Serie 5/23 nr. 2, juni 2022.
  
  
  
• Do Not Erase: Mathematicians and Their Chalkboards

  This book of Jessica Wynne on chalkboards of mathematicians contains a photograph of my blackboard with a very small essay I wrote on the allure and charm of blackboards and their role in mathematical research and the collaborative process.

  Sinds 2020 ben ik extern bestuurslid van QED, de vernieuwde Alumni-vereniging van oud-studenten Wiskunde aan de UGent, die haar leden samen wil brengen met allerlei activiteiten.
  
  
  
• Proclamatie Vlaamse Wiskunde Olympiade

  Op de prijsuitreiking en proclamatie van de Vlaamse Wiskunde Olympiade (VWO) was ik gastspreker in 2012. De titel was "Spiegeltje aan de wand: een schimmenspel van getallen".
  
  
  
• PRIME Studentenvereniging
  
  Universiteit Gent, 2008
  
  In 2008 was ik een van de oprichters van de studentenvereniging PRIME (Para-educationeel Recreatief Initiatief voor Mathematische Exercitie). Het doet me enorm veel plezier dat deze vereniging heel actief blijft in de capabele handen van de energieke jongere generaties studenten aan UGent.
